Our Irony!

When our heroes past have had enough of colonialism, they fought with passion and heartiness for our Independence but they least expected neo-colonialism. When they were fighting, they couldn’t look around because there wasn’t anyone to look to. On the other hand, they fought with the assurance that what they will entrust is going to be preserved. But the irony of our generation is the fact that there is virtually no one to look up to aside from our Church Fathers. We are surrounded by rouges and marauders who are not thinking of those coming after them. In fact, they are not only depleting the resources but eroding the core beliefs and the legacy of our founding fathers.

Our concern is not the wealth and resources that they are wasting, that is no issue because, if they do not pay it back, their offspring will pay. The concern is what they are teaching us. They are teaching us to be opportunists, idlers and wasters. But this we will not learn. If they choose not to be good, that will not make us to be bad. We will hold to the essentials of our founding fathers and then refuse to bow down to this dilemma of neo-colonialism. This is because someday, we want to stand tall and look at our own children in their faces and tell them that we did our part by making sure that the labours of “our heroes past didn't end up in vain”. It will be left for them then to do their parts. Ours we will do because we believe that Nigeria will not sink…but will soar!

The Right Citizens!

It is better to lend a helping hand than to point an accusing finger. I will not visit the sins, blame the disorder, trade the pains, confer the struggles, invoke the kind of poverty and wish injustice of the land on our leaders alone. The first question is if I am a right Nigerian? Leadership surely is about character and capacity. However before considering the worth of the character of my leaders…and the tenacity of their capacity… am I a genuine follower? This is a call to be a patriot by keeping my own side of the deal. How?

The simple way is to be a right Nigeria. This surely goes beyond being a road side patriot, a newsstand analyst and a Television/Radio news commentator. I have to be totally sold to the development of my country. Therefore, I must not indulge in anything that is questionable and ignoble. Before complaining of corruption… I must say no to it with passion in my own little corner. Before asserting their incompetence… how faithful am I with my own entrusted Endeavour? Before wishing they weren’t the ones there… how am I influencing and changing my own enterprise? The call then is to be the right Nigerian before calling my leaders to order. They will then be able to listen… my little influence and input counts…I must a right citizen of Nigeria.

Most importantly, be the right Nigerian because Nigeria is coming Alive more powerfully than before. It is well with our motherland!!!

Nigeria Alive Creed!

This what we believe and where we stand about the country of our birth:

Nigeria is alive and cannot stop to live
Nigeria is not a mistake but a marvel
The Nigeria state will not fail but flourish
Nigeria will not sink but soar
Nigeria will not crash because our Lord lives
For the reason that Nigeria is the hope of every living black man
Nigeria will blossom!
